Party like it’s 1989 at 80′s Prom

Tallahassee has an affinity for “the Eighties”–from Potbelly’s “80′s for the Ladies” on Thursday nights to 80′s Saturdays at Yianni’s–you can travel back in time several nights a week.

But only once a year does the ultimate time warp invade Downtown Tallahassee. And on Saturday, June 19, the prom returns.

Dubbed the “Final Wrath of the 80′s Prom”, the event began six years ago as a way to raise money for charity by the organization Party4Purpose.

Seven local charities have been selected to compete for party-goers’ votes to win the money raised from the event. This year’s charities are: Big Bend Hospice, Big Brothers & Big Sisters of the Big Bend, Capital City Youth Services, Guardian ad Litem, Magnolia School, Ovarian Cancer Alliance of North Florida, and Special Olympics of Leon County.

For $10, attendees will be able to hop from Paradigm, Clydes and Andrews, beginning at 9 P.M. until the party ends at 2 A.M. Performing live will be local bands Exit 199 (Clydes) and Wiser Than Fools (Paradigm). Additionally, DJ Chrom.A. will be playing 80′s hits all nights.
