Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is NYP?

The Network of Young Professionals is a 100% volunteer driven, community-based organization dedicated to helping make Tallahassee a city where young professionals choose to live, work, play and stay.

2. Who are NYP members?

We are a diverse network of your peers, ranging in age from 21-40 years old, who want to make Tallahassee a more exciting and enjoyable place to live. We are motivated and hardworking young individuals, but we also know how to have a little fun along the way.

Not in our targeted age group? Don’t worry! If you are energetic and enthusiastic about Tallahassee’s young professional community, we encourage you to join us.

3. Do I have to be a member to come to NYP events?

No, you don’t have to be a paid member to participate in NYP events. We would love for you to come see what we’re about as you consider membership in NYP.

4. Why should I join?

Here are 3 great reasons why you should become a member of NYP:

1. Networking — Whether you are looking to make new friends or connect with potential business contacts, we provide opportunities for young professionals in our area to interact and form relationships.

2. Be in the know – NYP prides itself on providing young professionals in Tallahassee with the information and resources to be engaged in our city.

3. Be a part of an organization that is dedicated to making Tallahassee a better community for young professionals.

5. What are the benefits of being a paid member?

We provide our members with:

-Access to a network of over 1,000 young professionals in the Tallahassee area

-Opportunities to interact, socialize and connect personally with the Tallahassee community

-Special discounts at NYP events

NYP membership pays!

Over the course of a year, your $36 dues will more than pay for itself in membership benefits. As a paid NYP member, you:

-Receive access to exclusive NYP members-only events

-Free or discounted admission to NYP events

-Special member perks from participating sponsors

6. How much are membership dues and are my dues current?

Annual dues are $36 for 12 months (February – February) and help support our ongoing activities. If you haven’t paid your dues as of January 1, 2010, then your membership is not currently active.

That can easily be fixed though! You can renew your membership by credit card (using Paypal) by following the link here or you can drop a check or money order in the mail to: Tallahassee NYP, P.O. Box 10946, Tallahassee, FL 32302. If you have a question regarding your membership status, please contact LaTanya White at latanya@71ProofLLC.com.

7. Can my employer pay my membership dues?

Our Corporate Membership Program is ready to debut! This program extends membership discounts based on the number of memberships that are purchased.

For instance, membership is only $20 per employee if 10 of you sign up under the Corporate Membership Program and $15 if there are 15 or more employees. If you would like more information, send us an email and we’ll get it right to you!

8. How do I become more involved in NYP?

There are a variety of ways to get involved with NYP. The easiest way is to attend one of our events. A great way to start is by checking out our 535 Happy Hour, which is held the first Wednesday of every month at a different local bar or restaurant. All you need to do is show up—there is no cover and these happy hours are open to everyone, whether or not you are a paid member. You have no excuse to say you don’t know where to meet anyone your age, because every month we provide an opportunity to do so!

If you are interested in volunteering with our organization’s inner workings, then you should consider joining one of our committees! We need volunteers to help us with events/logistics, membership outreach, and marketing/communications. Click here to download our committee application.
